course will be kept secret until the race briefing on Friday evening Sept 12th.
At the 2007 Untamed Virginia Adventure Race, out of 46 teams only 18 teams
completed the full "pro" course. The remaining teams missed time cut-offs and
were routed onto alternate courses, some succumbed to fatigue or injury
and withdrew from the race. The course will be fun, but challenging, so
be prepared.
The Disciplines
Mountain Biking
Paddling
Trekking
Orienteering
Ropes
Riverboarding
The Competitors
Teams of 2, 3, and 4 will be permitted but the premiere division in terms of
prizes and overall honours will be 3 or 4 Person Coed.
No support crew will be allowed for this race; the race organization will
do all necessary gear staging.
Self Sufficiency
This race will not permit support crews; the race organization will stage bikes,
watercraft, and paddling gear for teams but no additional gear bins
will be collected. This means teams should plan to be truly self-sufficient for
the duration of the event. Hydration and nutrition will be your own
responsibility meaning teams should pack plenty of food and have a plan for purifying
water along the course.
There will be opportunities on the course for friends and family to cheer competitors on,
with maps and details distributed after the start of the race, but fans may not render
any assistance.
