Riverboarding Clinic (Richmond) hosted by RipBoard

- When: Saturday July 26th (various times, see below)
- Where: Downtown Richmond James River boat takeout (directions emailed to participants)
- Who: Anyone may register (Untamed VA racers receive a discount, see below)
- Details:
These 2.5 hour sessions will cover all you need to know to get into riverboarding. The focus
area will be on the Pipeline Rapid in downtown Richmond.
Sessions start at 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, and 5 PM on Saturday 7/26/2008; each session
lasts 2.5 hours.
The cost is $20 for registered Untamed VA racers and it includes use of a RipBoard and fins.
Those not registered for the race can participate in the clinic for $25 per person.
For those who already have a board and don't need the gear, there is no charge.
Space is limited and must be reserved in advance with Shane at RipBoard (email shane@ripboard.com

All attendees should bring a helmet (bike helmet is OK), pfd, booties and knee pads.

From the Swiss Alps to Untamed Virginia

Monday August 4 in Fairfax, VA. 7:30 PM.
- Where: REI Fairfax
- Who: Free and open to the public

The winners of this year’s Untamed Switzerland event, Tom and Deb O'Donnell, will be at REI Fairfax with
an amazing presentation of photos from their race through the Alps this Spring. They'll
share an inside look at this alpine stage race, including lessons learned and insights for anyone looking to
trek, orienteer, snowshoe, or negotiate the challenges of travel to a big race.
Whether you’re gearing up for an event or just curious, this is a great opportunity for anyone
interested in adventure racing to pick up tips on strategy, planning, gear, transitions, navigation,
nutrition, and mental toughness.
A representative from Untamed Adventure will also be on hand to discuss the upcoming Untamed Virginia adventure
race (30-hour and 4-hour courses) and what lessons from the Swiss Alps can be applied
to racing right here in Virginia.

Adventure Racing with Untamed Adventure: From Patagonia to the Virginia Piedmont

Thursday August 7 in Richmond and Thursday August 14 in Charlottesville. 7 PM.

Mountain Sports stores in Charlottesville and Richmond (Chesterfield)
- Who: Free and open to the public
- Details:
Racers with Virginia's Untamed Adventure team will share photographs and their experiences
from inside the 10 day adventure race "At the End of the Earth" in the Tierra del
Fuego region of Patagonia, Chile.
They will also discuss the upcoming Untamed Virginia adventure
race (30-hour and 4-hour courses) and what lessons from Patagonia can be applied
to racing right here in Virginia.
